The Aul Party Proposes to Increase Funding in Agriculture
Astana Calling, Dec 2, 2011
On December 2, the Aul (Village) Social-Democratic Party of Kazakhstan presented its pre-election platform for the parliamentary elections at the party’s seventh extraordinary congress. In particular, the party proposes to increase funding for agriculture up to KZT 220 billion.
The party members believe the consumer basket of rural residents and provision of clean drinking water, along with the development of rural infrastructure (construction and repairing of housing, schools, hospitals, roads) should be their primary goal.
The party platform suggests that the government should annually allocate funds for agriculture in the amount of KZT 180-220 billion in order to address most pressing economic and social problems of the village.
The Aul Party also claims that the land in Kazakhstan should belong to the peasants. The party undertakes to protect the rights of peasants to achieve an equitable distribution of land. According to the party members, the peasants must become true masters of the land where they work.
The Aul congress approved the list of 23 party candidates for the Majilis elections.
