The Embassy of Kazakhstan in the US cordially invites you to discover the Kazakh spirit and heritage through the language of contemporary music and performing arts.

What: World Premiere of Abai and Shakarim in New York

An outstanding British composer Sir Karl Jenkins belongs to the top ten famous living composers in the world. While composing the suite “Abai” and “Shakarim” he visited Kazakhstan to immerse himself in the study of Kazakh musical culture and folk instruments.

These masterpieces will be performed by the Almaty Symphony Orchestra and a renowned Kazakh musician, virtuoso violinist Marat Bisengaliyev.

The suite is dedicated to a renowned 19th century Kazakh intellectual and poet Abai Kunanbayev, who greatly contributed to Kazakh literature. His works ranged from poetry to music he composed himself.

The other piece features Shakarim Kudaiberdiyev who was a poet, writer, historian and a composer.

CHICAGO, IL—With the continuing annual theme of “Global Energy Security”, the “Sixth Annual Silk Road Conference” is  returning to Chicago on Wednesday, July 20, 2011.

The annual successful event will be held at the conference facilities of Kent School of Law,  Illinois Institute of Technology, 565 W. Adams St.

Focus will be on business growth resulting from expanding energy economies . The morning sessions will be presented by diplomats from countries located along the historic Silk Road, which has changed dramatically in the last decade  from camel trade  routes to expanding highways, railways, gas and oil pipelines, and airports.

Confirmed countries include: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and Romania (Nabucco pipeline).

The afternoon sessions will be presented by foreign business executives, representatives from foreign chambers of commerce, and academicians from prominent institutions. The sessions will be highlighted  by discussions focusing on timely  financial and legal aspects of  doing business in this region, including China.

Table top exhibits will be open from registration at 8 AM, throughout the day, until 5 PM.  Registration fees are:

  • members of the four sponsoring organizations, $35.00;
  • non-members, $45.00; and
  • students, $20.00.

Sergey Sek, Business Development of KazCham attended Minex Central Asia 2010 in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan on 16-18 March and KazRefinEx 5th Annual International Symposium and Exhibition on Refining and Petrochemistry on 25 – 26 March.

MINEX can be described as a post-crisis mining and exploration event for Central Asian Mining Industry. The forum’s main objective was to highlight current state and midterm perspectives for mining and exploration in Kazakhstan and Central Asian states recovering from the effects of the global economic crisis. According to the feedback received from the forum participants Minex Central Asia has become a significant international business, know-how and investment platform for Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

The three day agenda of the pre-forum master classes and the main forum featured over 60 speaker presentations of the leading mining companies, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan, the National Welfare Fund “Samruk Kazyna”, The state geological and subsoil use Committee of Kazakhstan, international investment banks, Stock Exchanges, Mining and Financial consulting firms, etc. Despite turbulent weather conditions the forum brought together over 400 delegates from 150 companies and foreign missions from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Japan, China, Russia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, India and the Netherland.

KazRefinEx gathered key branch experts from Kazakhstan, Europe and Central Asia in Almaty, to give the audience an opportunity to receive information about the prospects of deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials and implementing specific breakthrough investment projects in the petrochemical industry at the level of the world economy for the coming year, as they say, “first hand”.

Today, the Kazakhstan oil and gas industry faces several key challenges in Kazakhstan, including the provision of deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials, development of petrochemical industries. Currently, the Fund Samruk-Kazyna considered 31 projects in various spheres of the economy of the republic. The total cost of these projects amounts to more than $ 23 billion, of which the sphere of oil refining and petrochemicals will be about 11 billion U.S. dollars, including the reconstruction projects is upgrading three refineries of the country.

Bayou Region, LA – March 5, 2010 – Mr. Paris “Pye” Theriot, Director of International Development for the South Louisiana Economic Council, has been appointed  Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan and  received credentials at an official ceremony Friday, March 5th in Baton Rouge.  As Honorary Consul, Mr. Theriot will serve on behalf of the Consular Department of the Kazakhstan Embassy in Washington D.C.  to promote cooperation between government, commercial and academic interests both in Kazakhstan and in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.  In his role as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Theriot will also serve as an official representative on behalf of the Kazakh government at state and federally sponsored events.  The appointment comes at the recommendation of Louisiana Congressman Charlie Melancon and Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu and is an official appointment of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with approval by U.S. Department of State.

We are proud to announce that Charles Raether, Executive Director of AmLaw Consulting Group, has become our Mid-Atlantic representative to lead and promote the Chamber’s activities in the greater Washington, D.C. area to support and expand U.S. – Kazakhstan business, trade, and investment. The Chamber’s offices in the United States were recently to increase awareness of Kazakhstan investment programs and initiatives of the Kazakhstan government as well as foster commercial ties between U.S. and Kazakhstan firms in a broad spectrum of industry topics.

The Kazakhstan government recently announced more than 160 new economic initiatives totaling more than $44 billion to attract investment and diversify Kazakhstan’s economic base. These signify significant business opportunities for U.S. suppliers, manufacturers, and investors across key economic sectors such as agribusiness, construction, natural resources, and telecommunications.
