An outstanding British composer Sir Karl Jenkins belongs to the top ten famous living composers in the world. While composing the suite “Abai” and “Shakarim” he visited Kazakhstan to immerse himself in the study of Kazakh musical culture and folk instruments.
These masterpieces will be performed by the Almaty Symphony Orchestra and a renowned Kazakh musician, virtuoso violinist Marat Bisengaliyev.
The suite is dedicated to a renowned 19th century Kazakh intellectual and poet Abai Kunanbayev, who greatly contributed to Kazakh literature. His works ranged from poetry to music he composed himself.
The other piece features Shakarim Kudaiberdiyev who was a poet, writer, historian and a composer.
