Parliamentary Candidates from Kazakhstan People’s Assembly Registered

The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan registered all the nine candidates for members of the Majilis (lower chamber of parliament) from Kazakhstan People’s Assembly on Dec.30, CEC reports.
Among the registered candidates are 2 women. The average age of candidates is 59. All of them have higher education. Six of them are engaged in the science, culture and education. Other 3 are members of Majilis’s fourth convocation.
Registered candidates can start their election campaign from Jan.1, 2012.
The powers of the Council Assembly include: the nomination of candidates as members of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament, consideration of candidates for the Assembly, submitting proposals on the agenda of regular sessions to the Kazakh president, submitting proposals concerning an action plan of the Assembly’s office (Secretariat); making other decisions, irrelevant to the exceptional jurisdiction of the Session.
Majilis elections will be held on Jan.15, 2012.
