KazSat-2 handed over to Kazakhstan

Neurope, Dec 11, 2011

For past four and a half months, Kazakh and Russian experts have been testing the KazSat-2 Communications Satellite with so-called flight tests.

The specialists have tested the aircraft’s navigation system, its orientation in space and all of its on-board electronics. A month later, final testing of the satellite was done to check the operation of its on-board transponder and the signal quality in different parts of Kazakhstan.

Presently, the satellite is under Kazakhstan control. The spacecraft from the centre is situated in the village of Akkol in the Akmola region, Gazeta.kz reported.

Recently the Kazakh National Space Agency reviewed the results of testing the space system. A special commission also signed the act of transferring the ownership rights from the developer to the customer, the Kazakh Centre for Space Communication.

A group of 36 experts, who completed a full course of training in Russia and passed necessary examinations, will control the satellite directly. The spacecraft itself has been repeatedly re-equipped to improve its reliability. The satellite has fundamentally new components and a new control algorithm to ensure uninterrupted operation of the device for at least 12 years.
