Kazakhstan is among 10 countries with the highest level of energy intensity of its economy, and this trend is not going to decline any time soon. According to Tomasz Telma, Regional Director of the International Finance Corporation for Europe and Central Asia, modernization of the Kazakh economy will be deeply related to a serious reduction in its energy intensity so that to decrease its dependence on the consumption of energy.
