From May to August 2013 KMG and KCK performed drilling operation for the first exploration well in the structure “Zhambyl” (ZB-1) with the depth of 2,200 meters. The operator “Zhambyl Petroleum” LLP organized the drilling operations. The drilling works directly was performed by Kazakh contractor, “Teniz Burgylau” LLP certified by international standards, which is a 100% daughter company of KMG.

As a result of drilling in the Middle Jurassic formation, 2 oil-gas prospective objects were confirmed. In the DST (Drill Stem Test) of these objects, there was a natural flow of oil and gas with production volume 24? per day on choke size 6.35 mm (16/64”) and 110? per day on choke size 12.7 mm (32/64”). Caterpillar Selected to Power the 1,300 Kilometer Asian Gas Pipeline in Kazakhstan 0

Posted on August 19, 2011 by Alex

Oil and Gas Eurasia, August 15, 2011

Caterpillar has been selected to provide power solutions for the Asian Gas Pipeline, a joint project between Kazakhstan and China, the company reported in a news release. Caterpillar will provide 6x Cat® G3516C gas generator sets and 2x C18 generator sets. Each G3516C generator set will provide the gas compression stations with 1,555 ekW (1,944 kVA) of rated power at 1,500 RPM. The C18 generator sets will be utilized as emergency backup power for the gas compression stations.

Once completed, the Asian Gas Pipeline will transport 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan to China and 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Kazakhstan to China per year, thereby delivering approximately two percent of China’s energy consumption. The construction of the pipeline initially started in July 2008 and is due to be completed in late 2013 or early 2014. The total length of the 42-inch pipeline, which is carried in two lines, will exceed 6,500 km: 200 km in Turkmenistan, 510.5 km in Uzbekistan, 1,300 km in Kazakhstan and 4,500 km in China.

The Asian Gas Pipeline is the region’s largest pipeline construction project and is a joint venture between KazMunayGas and China National Petroleum Corporation. The main contractors are KazStroyService and China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation.  KazStroy Service will construct 2 gas compression stations and a gas metering station whilst China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation is to build 3 gas compression stations in Kazakhstan.

The G3516C features advanced island mode control, which monitors the generator’s electrical output to ensure high power quality and superior load acceptance.”

The G3516C generator sets were shipped from the Caterpillar factory in Lafayette, Indiana, United States in July 2011. The C18 generator sets are being supplied from the inventory of Caterpillar Dealer Borusan Makina. The gas compression stations powered by Caterpillar generator sets are scheduled for start-up from September to November 2011.

Caterpillar Global Petroleum has a long-standing relationship in Kazakhstan, supplying an extensive array of power solutions including engines and generators to the region for decades. Caterpillar Dealer Borusan Makina offers stellar engineering, product support and service capabilities in Kazakhstan. Borusan Makina along with Cat dealer in China Westrac led Caterpillar efforts on the Asian Gas Pipeline deal and will continue to provide superb support capabilities in the field once the pipeline is operational.
