Call for Applications: Workshop “Humanities and Social Sciences. A US-Kazakhstan Perspective”, June 23, 2014

In the framework of its Kazakhstan Initiative, the Central Asia Program at George Washington University organizes a one day event onJune 23, 2014 devoted to promoting Kazakhstani youth currently based in the United States.

The goal of the workshop is to give the floor to Kazakhstani students (Master and PhD) currently based in the United States working on humanities and social sciences and to develop their networking abilities in Washington DC.

The workshop will be organized in several panels where the students will present (15 minutes) their research in the following areas:

  • political science
  • international affairs
  • public administration
  • environmental studies
  • architecture
  • education
  • economics
  • sociology
  • anthropology
  • history
  • language and literature
  • arts

The presentations will be discussed by a faculty member.

The participating students will be offered to publish a 2 page paper in the CAP online series. The CAP will cover their transportation and accommodation fees.  The students will have the opportunity to visit GWU and the Kazakhstan Embassy and to meet with Kairat Umarov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the U.S.
